Quebec and Vermont

Categories:

Last night I decided to go back into Canada; I was delayed about an hour at the border, as it seems the Immigration agents couldn't understand why I would want to take a detour through their country instead of going straight to Boston. I always wonder why Immigration people seem so baffled when someone wants to travel, but it seems to be a common thing.

I drove up to Ottawa and spent the night, then went to Montreal, and headed east an hour or two longer before deciding I'd had enough of Canadian roads and Canadian drivers. I crossed over into Vermont, and tonight I'm staying in a place called St. Johnsbury; tomorrow I'll pass through New Hampshire and Maine en route to Massachusetts. I'm not planning to go back into Canada on this trip; whereas having the Sanctuary logo on the truck and driving around with a bunch of dogs seems to make sense to CBP when I'm reentering the States and they generally let me across the border pretty quickly, the Canadians greet me with nothing but suspicion, and offer incredibly helpful suggestions, like telling me that I'm going in the wrong direction, as if I don't know where Boston is. Honestly, my experience with Canadian border guards has soured me on Canada a little; the only country I may have had a slightly harder time getting into is Israel. That said, I still want to go back and see the Atlantic provinces and northern provinces, but probably without any dogs on board, or at least no more than one or two.

I have only two pictures from Quebec: the first is the closest thing to a 'Welcome to Quebec' sign I was able to find, either because I missed the sign or because they aren't particularly welcoming; the second is a creepy sign I saw when I pulled into a residential area to look at my map.

Is that a sign to warn you about creepy prostitutes?
